I was visiting my Mom at the nursing home yesterday and looked out the window to behold a pair of turtle doves on the fence carefully grooming one another, in what appeared to be “bird affection”, cuddling close together. As I beheld this wonder of nature, a scripture came to mind. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall SEE GOD…” Matt. 5:8
I had always believed that this verse was referring to “seeing God” when we meet Him face to face in heaven, which I still believe, but the Holy Spirit seemed to whisper a different meaning of that well-loved part of the Beatitudes, and I’d like to share it today. When our hearts are pure, we can “SEE GOD” in most anything and everything He created. A gorgeous sunset on a winter night, or freshly fallen snow the day after Christmas 2012. Maybe it’s the warm smile of a friend or loved one, or the beauty of a bright red cardinal eating at the bird feeder. Call me simple if you’d like, but I “SEE GOD” in those simple things! Maybe it’s time you paused from your busy life to “SEE GOD” in these wonders of nature around you? I pray this post will stimulate you to do so. Stop, look, and listen to all the creative ways that God demonstrates His love to us. Don’t just let them pass you by! No wonder it stated “Blessed” are the pure in heart, for BLESSED is the only word I can use when I think of the rush of emotion I had as I looked into the sweet face of my grandson Asher on Christmas morn! Ask God for a pure heart, that you may SEE Him everywhere you look!
